Only an enterprise which produces one or more of its own movements earns the right to describe itself as a "manufacture", a coveted appellation reserved for brands which produce on their own premises all of the individual components for their watches. After much hard work and countless tests, the new caliber first saw the light of day in 1996 – completely designed and produced in Chopard’s ateliers. The "L.U.C 1860" even satisfies the strict criteria needed to earn the prestigious Geneva Quality Hallmark.
