We give a three years’ guarantee to every watch bought from Wempe. This guarantee includes free repair of any defects due to faults in materials or workmanship. However, it lapses if the watch is entrusted to a non-authorised dealer during the guarantee period.

Own master watchmakers in every showroom ...

Every Wempe shop has its own master watchmakers on the premises, where they perform smaller repairs, conduct routine maintenance tasks, and carry out fine adjustments. Among other work, these tasks also include the speedy installation of a new battery, checking the water-resistance, cleaning the cases and wristbands with ultrasound, shortening the wristbands and checking each repaired watch before we return it to its owner.

When the moment has come: General overhaul...

Comprehensive maintenance involves some extremely delicate operations. We disassemble the entire mechanism, scrutinise every component to ensure that it is fully functional and replace any damaged parts. Before reassembling the mechanism, we first cleanse and lubricate it. The case and the metal wristband (if present) are likewise cleansed and refurbished to the greatest extent possible. Afterwards the movement is again encased inside its case and adjusted in an electronic test run. We monitor the precision of the timepiece’s rate during several days of testing. Finally, we restore the water-resistance according to the manufacturer’s specifications and meticulously recheck all of the watch’s functions. Watches which have been overhauled leave our workshops with a guarantee of two years.

For comprehensive repairs and maintenance, Wempe’s watch ateliers in Hamburg and Glashütte are available to you as two of Europe’s largest and most modern watch workshops. More than 40 highly qualified master watchmakers here will devote their meticulous attention to your timepiece. Among its other distinctions, Wempe’s atelier in Hamburg is proud to display the highest training diploma awarded by Geneva manufacturer Patek Philippe. Thanks to this distinction, we are the sole German workshop that has been authorised to perform maintenance on every timepiece from the house of Patek Philippe.

Expertise and Experience: The Wempe Watch Sommeliers...

Even more profound is the knowledge of our ‘watch sommeliers’, who learn more about the history and technology behind each watch manufacturer on their annual ‘Tour de Suisse’, taking in the studios and workshops of the most famous names in watchmaking. A ‘watch sommelier’ is available to advise you at every Wempe showroom. Our staff attend the renowned watch fairs in Geneva and Basel, thus helping them maintain their place amongst the leading experts in the industry.

All of our services can be accessed at each of Wempe’s 25 branches worldwide. For example, you can give your watch to us in Munich and, after we have completed the maintenance or repair work, you can reclaim your timepiece in Hamburg, Paris, or on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

Repair necessary: the Wempe Cost Estimates...

If a wristwatch requires routine servicing, we can give you an estimate of the costs onsite and in advance. More comprehensive repairs are necessary if a watch has been damaged in an accident or by the penetration of water, so the severity of the damage must first be assessed in Wempe’s watch atelier before we can determine the extent – and the costs – of the necessary repairs.

Always something special: Historical timepieces...

Historical timepieces are the sole exceptions to this rule. To restore these antique timekeepers, it is often necessary to adapt components or even to individually craft certain parts. Before carrying out the restoration work, we always draw up an estimate of the costs so that you can compare the elaborateness of the necessary repairs with the value of the timepiece.
